CO₂ Cylinders & Compatibility

Which sparkling water systems are EcoVenza CO₂ cylinders compatible with?

EcoVenza 2.2L CO₂ cylinders use the industry-standard M10 thread and are compatible with a wide range of sparkling water systems, including:

  • Zip™
  • Billi™
  • Waterlogic™
  • Puretec™
  • Bromic™
  • Crystella™ systems using compatible 2.2L regulators
  • Most other systems designed for 2.2L M10-thread CO₂ cylinders

EcoVenza cylinders can be used as a direct replacement for compatible Zip™ and Billi™ 2.2L CO₂ cylinders without modifying your system.

If you're unsure whether an EcoVenza cylinder will fit your sparkling water system, check your existing cylinder or regulator for an M10 connection or contact EcoVenza for assistance.

How do I replace an empty 2.2L CO₂ cylinder for my sparkling water system?

Replacing an empty 2.2L CO₂ cylinder is straightforward and can be done without a technician.

This process applies to Zip™, Billi™ and other EcoVenza-compatible sparkling water systems:

  1. Turn off the regulator connected to the empty cylinder. The pressure gauge should drop to zero.
  2. Unscrew the regulator from the empty cylinder and set it aside.
  3. Remove the protective cap from the new, full EcoVenza cylinder.
  4. Attach the regulator to the new cylinder and tighten it securely. You may hear a brief "whoosh" as you connect it. This is a small release of CO₂ gas and is normal.
  5. Turn the regulator on and adjust the pressure to approximately 3.5 bar.

Food-grade CO₂ is non-toxic and non-flammable. However, CO₂ cylinders are pressurised vessels and should always be handled and stored with care.

How do I know when my CO₂ cylinder is empty?

The regulator connected to your CO₂ cylinder includes a gas-level indicator gauge that helps you monitor the cylinder.

When the indicator moves into the orange area, it is time to replace the empty CO₂ cylinder with a full one.

If you're experiencing reduced carbonation, the cylinder's gas level is also one of the first things to check.

How much sparkling water does one EcoVenza CO₂ cylinder make?

Each EcoVenza 2.2L cylinder contains 1,300g of food-grade CO₂ and can produce up to approximately 260 litres of sparkling water.

EcoVenza cylinders contain up to 20% more CO₂ than many alternative cylinders, helping reduce the frequency of cylinder replacements while providing better value per litre of sparkling water.

Please note that actual consumption can vary depending on how your sparkling water system is used and your preferred level of carbonation.

Is CO₂ gas safe to store at home or in the workplace?

Yes. EcoVenza cylinders contain food-grade CO₂, which is non-toxic and non-flammable.

However, CO₂ cylinders are pressurised vessels and must be handled and stored correctly. Keep cylinders secure and protected from damage, tampering and access by children.

Because pressurised CO₂ cylinders are classified as Dangerous Goods for transport, EcoVenza uses specialist Dangerous Goods couriers for cylinder deliveries and collections.

For additional safety information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS) for EcoVenza cylinders.

ReCylinder™ & CO₂ Cylinder Recycling

How does the EcoVenza ReCylinder™ recycling program work?

ReCylinder™ is EcoVenza's CO₂ cylinder recycling program, designed to make responsible disposal of used 2.2L cylinders simple and convenient.

When you purchase eligible EcoVenza cylinders, you receive ReCylinder™ credits that can be used to arrange free collection of your empty cylinders for recycling.

Once your cylinders are empty, pack them securely in the reusable EcoVenza carton, book your collection through your EcoVenza account and leave the sealed carton ready for the courier to collect.

EcoVenza then collects the cylinders and sends them for responsible recycling, providing a convenient alternative to disposing of pressurised cylinders yourself.

For more information about responsible CO₂ cylinder disposal, read our CO₂ cylinder recycling guide.

How do ReCylinder™ credits work?

ReCylinder™ credits are included with EcoVenza twin-pack CO₂ cylinder purchases and can be used to arrange free collection of your empty cylinders for recycling.

Each twin-pack includes one ReCylinder™ credit:

  • 1 twin-pack = 1 credit = collection of 2 empty cylinders
  • 2 twin-packs = 2 credits = collection of 4 empty cylinders
  • Additional twin-packs provide additional credits

Each ReCylinder™ credit is valid for 12 months from the original purchase date.

Empty cylinders must be packed in the original reusable EcoVenza carton so they can be transported safely and in accordance with courier requirements.

How do I return empty CO₂ cylinders for recycling?

EcoVenza makes returning empty CO₂ cylinders for recycling simple through the ReCylinder™ program.

  1. Purchase an eligible EcoVenza twin-pack, which includes a ReCylinder™ credit.
  2. Keep the reusable EcoVenza carton supplied with your order.
  3. Once both cylinders are empty, place them securely inside the original carton.
  4. Log in to your EcoVenza account and use your ReCylinder™ credit to book a collection.
  5. Seal the carton and leave it ready for the courier at your front door or reception.

The courier will bring the required labels and paperwork when collecting your cylinders.

Collections in metropolitan areas are generally scheduled for the next working day. Please make sure your carton is sealed and ready, as a failed collection will use the ReCylinder™ credit associated with the booking.

ReCylinder™ credits expire 12 months from the original purchase date.

How many empty CO₂ cylinders can I return for recycling?

You can return as many eligible empty CO₂ cylinders as your available ReCylinder™ credits cover.

Each ReCylinder™ credit covers the collection of one EcoVenza carton containing two empty cylinders. For example, two credits can be used to return four cylinders.

If you have multiple credits, collections can be arranged separately as your cylinders become empty.

EcoVenza also offers paid recycling collection for additional eligible cylinders when you don't have enough free ReCylinder™ credits.

Can I return CO₂ cylinders from other brands for recycling?

Yes. When placing your first EcoVenza twin-pack order, you can use the included ReCylinder™ credit to return the same quantity of compatible 2.2L cylinders from other supported brands.

Eligible cylinders include compatible 2.2L cylinders from brands such as:

  • Zip™
  • Billi™
  • Waterlogic™
  • Puretec™
  • Crystella™
  • Bromic™

The empty cylinders must be packed in the reusable EcoVenza carton supplied with your order so they meet the requirements for safe transport.

After your first order, additional cylinders from other brands can still be recycled through EcoVenza using the paid ReCylinder™ recycling service.

Can I drop off empty CO₂ cylinders at EcoVenza for recycling?

Yes. Empty CO₂ cylinders can be dropped off directly at the EcoVenza Distribution Centre for recycling during business hours.

The EcoVenza Distribution Centre is located at:

10 Phiney Place
Ingleburn NSW 2565

Please contact EcoVenza before your visit by emailing help@ecovenza.com or calling 1300 222 552 during business hours to advise that you will be dropping off cylinders for recycling.

Note: You may use your Recylinder™ credits for free recycling. Otherwise, recycling will be a paid service.

Can I put empty CO₂ cylinders in household or workplace recycling bins?

No. Do not place 2.2L CO₂ cylinders in household, workplace or council recycling bins, even when you believe the cylinder is empty.

CO₂ cylinders are pressurised vessels and are classified as Dangerous Goods. An "empty" cylinder may still contain residual pressure, which can make it dangerous if the cylinder is damaged, crushed or punctured.

For safety:

  • Do not cut, drill, weld, crush or puncture a CO₂ cylinder.
  • Do not place cylinders in household or workplace recycling bins.
  • Do not dispose of cylinders in general waste.

EcoVenza's ReCylinder™ service provides a safe way to have eligible 2.2L CO₂ cylinders collected by specialist couriers and sent for responsible recycling.

For more information about safely and responsibly disposing of used cylinders, see our CO₂ cylinder recycling guide.
